This course could have the detailed title ” STEM teaching using Moodle”. Moodle is a very flexible platform and in this course we fully customize it to meet the teaching needs of Science, Technology and Engineering of Mathematics.

We have installed almost all of the Moodle – plugins associated with these subjects and we have searched to find and “upload” resources and activities that serve them.

We embrace the modern requirement, “STEM education abolishes the boundaries between different subjects and considers them as a union”, so we try, within the possible extend, to establish cross-curriculum direction by deriving our STEM topics from Primary, Middle and High School.

Aims of the course «STEM teaching using Moodle»

The “STEM Teaching in Moodle” course has as its primary purpose to give to every participant the opportunity to learn, familiarize, with Moodle tools that serve the particular educational needs of STEM coursework. The second and most important purpose is to give participants the opportunity to produce their own educational content by applying the knowledge they have gained.

The “STEM Teaching in Moodle” course has as its primary purpose to give to every participant the opportunity to learn, familiarize, with Moodle tools that serve the particular educational needs of STEM coursework. Target Audience

The course is primarily aimed to STEM instructors and trainers or those for whom STEM courses are part of their educational activity. For example, primary school teachers, secondary or tertiary school teachers and trainers in non-formal or corporate training.

It is also aimed to Moodle course creators who want to expand their activity in the STEM direction.

Structure of the course

  • Provides all the required information using Moodle resources and activities
  • Provides a detailed terminology glossary. The glossary entries are hyperlinked to it at every point they appear through the e-learning course, making it easy to understand the tools.
  • Provides assignments that participants are asked to implement as Moodle - creators their own educational content in a special environment where they will be able to use the various tools
  • Provides forums for communication, exchange of views, solving problems and troubleshooting
  • Provides surveys that record and publicize learners' opinions on the value or usability of the tools listed
  • Provides self-assessment tools that enable each participant to evaluate his / her learning and the degree of acquisition of knowledge and skills.
  • Provides certification and Badge of studying or completion of the course
  • No particular knowledge is required from the candidates. However, a small degree of familiarity with Moodle would be helpful.

In each module the trainee:

  • Must submit one Assignment per module with a completion condition achieving a minimum 75% performance to obtain the Certificate of Completion of the course
  • Can study the glossary entries (texts) related to the module
  • Can study the theory, resources and activities of Moodle, as many times as he wants (but the condition of completion is to study it at least once fully). The aim is to get acquainted, familiar with the tools
  • Can practice with the tools and create their own educational content in the special environment where he will be able to use the tools
  • It must submit the Assignments of each module with a completion condition achieving a minimum 75% performance to obtain the Certificate of Completion of the course.
  • Can participate in other lesson activities, forums and surveys where he interacts with other participants and teachers
  • He assesses himself and asserts that he now knows the subject. The aim is to take responsibility for "continue to the next section".
